about
us
Desvia is an independent production company based in Recife, Brazil, founded in 2010 by producer/director Rachel Daisy Ellis and director/artist Gabriel Mascaro. The focus of the company is on producing films with innovative narratives and strong artistic voices.
In Portuguese, the verb “desviar” means to deviate or divert and was chosen to represent the interweaving of ideas and encounters that results in new ways of producing audio-visual and artistic content. As well as producing films directed by the partners, the company also coproduces works by other directors, mainly in Latin America. Desvia´s films have all premiered in major festivals, been distributed globally and accrued over 100 awards.
In 2025 Camille Reis joined the company as partner to focus on developing new Productions. Gabriel is now a partner of the new produciton company Trema.
